Definition
A short chain of amino acids joined by peptide bonds — usually fewer than fifty. Longer chains fold into proteins. Insulin is a peptide; so are semaglutide, tirzepatide and every compound on LYO. Because they are chains of amino acids rather than small molecules, most peptides are broken down in the gut and have to be injected to work, which is why almost all of them are injectables.
