Does KPV help with intestinal / systemic inflammation?

D
Grade D — no human evidence0 controlled · effect size: not measurable
Short answerNo human evidence. As of 3 September 2026, no controlled human trial has tested KPV for intestinal / systemic inflammation. KPV reduces inflammation in mouse models of colitis and in cultured immune and epithelial cells, including when delivered by targeted nanoparticles. No human trial has tested it.

What the studies show

KPV reduces inflammation in mouse models of colitis and in cultured immune and epithelial cells, including when delivered by targeted nanoparticles. No human trial has tested it.

Animal studies, cell studies, or anecdotes only. This is where almost every viral peptide sits. Promising and proven are different words for a reason.

In context

KPV is a three-amino-acid fragment (lysine-proline-valine) from the tail of the hormone α-MSH, studied for anti-inflammatory effects. In cell and mouse models of gut inflammation it dampens inflammatory signalling, which is the basis of its reputation for 'healing' and gut health. No controlled human trial of any kind has tested it. It is not approved anywhere.

KPV is not approved. Legal status differs by country — see the regulation section or the jurisdiction pages.

Questions

Is KPV proven to help with intestinal / systemic inflammation?
No. There is no human evidence for it (0 controlled); the claim rests on animal or cell studies and LYO grades it D.
What studies are behind the grade?
KPV reduces inflammation in mouse models of colitis and in cultured immune and epithelial cells, including when delivered by targeted nanoparticles. No human trial has tested it.
Is KPV approved for this?
No. KPV is not approved; it is not an approved medicine for any indication in the jurisdictions LYO covers.
