Does Hexarelin help with body composition?

D
Grade D — no human evidence1 chronic study (n small) · effect size: not measurable
Short answerNo human evidence. As of 3 September 2026, only 1 chronic study (n small) exists for Hexarelin for body composition. In the only sustained-dosing study, IGF-1, body fat, lean mass and bone density did not change significantly over 16 weeks.

What the studies show

In the only sustained-dosing study, IGF-1, body fat, lean mass and bone density did not change significantly over 16 weeks.

“In the present study, the biological impact of this hexarelin schedule on the GH-IGF-I axis seems to be minimal.”

In context

Hexarelin is a synthetic six-amino-acid growth-hormone-releasing peptide. Single doses cause a strong, well-documented growth-hormone spike in humans, but the one study of continued use showed the response fades within weeks and that IGF-1 and body composition did not meaningfully change. It was never developed into an approved medicine, and the muscle, fat-loss and cardiac claims made for it have no controlled human evidence.

Hexarelin is not approved. Legal status differs by country — see the regulation section or the jurisdiction pages.

Questions

Is Hexarelin proven to help with body composition?
No. There is no human evidence for it (1 chronic study (n small)); the claim rests on animal or cell studies and LYO grades it D.
What studies are behind the grade?
In the only sustained-dosing study, IGF-1, body fat, lean mass and bone density did not change significantly over 16 weeks.
Is Hexarelin approved for this?
No. Hexarelin is not approved; it is not an approved medicine for any indication in the jurisdictions LYO covers.
